The speed of email handling depends on your email provider&#039;s server and the Internet connection speed. For a smartphone, the wireless segment of your Internet connection can be via WiFi or through your mobility service provider.

For example, I am using Gmail over a 45 Mbps WiFi connection which exceeds my Internet connection speed of 20 Mbps downstream, 1 Mbps upstream. Therefore, the limiting factor is my ISP connection, not the WiFi capability of my smartphone. Google servers, in typical fashion, are extremely reliable with fast response - I have not seen Gmail to the contrary.

My smartphone camera images are set to highest resolution with a typical image at 700 Kbytes. I took a picture on my smartphone and used the Android function to post it to my Facebook wall and the operation was completed by the time I checked my Facebook wall. I sent the image in an email via Gmail to another email service and received the email in less than 30 seconds.
